Kanileʻa KG-5 Pro Guitar
As of January 2026, guitars are backordered approximately 4–6 months from time of order.
After more than 26 years of perfecting the art of ʻukulele building, Kanileʻa introduced the KG-5 Pro as its first-ever full-size guitar—marking a major milestone in the company’s evolution. The KG-5 Pro represents the foundation from which the entire Kanileʻa guitar line was developed, combining years of research, innovative engineering, and the craftsmanship Kanileʻa is known for. It is a bold statement instrument, designed to explore new possibilities in sound, comfort, and structural design.
The KG-5 Pro is built on Kanileʻa’s refined OOO body shape, offering balance, projection, and a familiar feel for players transitioning from ʻukulele to guitar. A 25.0" scale length and 1.75" nut width provide confident string spacing and clarity across the fingerboard. Finished in a durable UV-cured gloss, the KG-5 Pro is engineered around Kanileʻa’s proprietary TRU-G bracing system, developed specifically for this model. Unlike other guitars in the lineup, the KG-5 Pro features an offset soundhole, requiring a bracing approach more closely aligned with Kanileʻa’s ʻukulele architecture. Additional TRU-Supports beneath the neck-to-body joint enhance structural stability and energy transfer, resulting in a highly responsive and balanced instrument.
Crafted from Master Grade Hawaiian Koa, the KG-5 Pro delivers exceptional depth, warmth, and dynamic range. What truly sets this model apart is Kanileʻa’s innovative TRU-Relief soundboard design—a bent soundboard paired with tapered sides. This construction creates a thinner body feel under the player’s arm while preserving internal air volume elsewhere in the body, maintaining projection and tonal depth. Originally developed for Kanileʻa ʻukuleles in 2021, TRU-Relief was introduced to the guitar line in 2024, making the KG-5 Pro one of the most ergonomically advanced acoustic guitars available.
Visually, the KG-5 Pro is richly appointed with paua abalone detailing, maple binding, purfling, and trim, and refined aesthetic touches throughout. An ebony fretboard, bridge, and headplate pair with a one-piece genuine mahogany neck for smooth playability and long-term reliability. Gotoh black locking tuners ensure tuning stability, completing an instrument where form, function, and innovation are deeply integrated.
Each KG-5 Pro Guitar includes a HAN PRO case, inspired by Kanileʻa’s premium ʻukulele cases and engineered for superior protection, durability, and everyday convenience.
The Kanileʻa KG-5 Pro is a landmark instrument—innovative, expressive, and unapologetically bold—serving as both the origin and the pinnacle of Kanileʻa’s guitar design philosophy.
