Willie K
Willie K (William Awihilima Kahaialiʻi) was a legendary Hawaiian musician celebrated for his extraordinary versatility, soulful voice, and electrifying performances. Born in Lahaina and raised in Maui, Willie began performing with his father at a young age and grew into one of Hawaiʻi’s most revered artists, mastering genres from Hawaiian music and blues to rock, jazz, reggae, and even opera.
Throughout his career, Willie K won 19 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards and received a GRAMMY nomination for Amy & Willie Live (with Amy Hānaialiʻi Gilliom). He collaborated with top artists, toured widely, and built a reputation for captivating audiences with his passionate guitar work and dynamic vocal range.
Even as he battled lung cancer beginning in 2018, Willie continued performing and inspiring fans with his resilience and spirit. He passed away in May 2020, leaving a profound legacy in Hawaiian music and beyond.
