Kamalei Kawaʻa
Kamalei Kawaʻa is a Grammy‑nominated Hawaiian singer‑songwriter, musician, recording artist, chanter, hula dancer, teacher, and cultural ambassador from Paukūkalo, Maui. Known for his soulful vocals and deep roots in Hawaiian tradition, Kamalei first rose to prominence as a founding member of the award‑winning quartet Nā Wai ʻEhā, whose music earned multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards and a Grammy nomination for Best Regional Roots Music Album.
With training grounded in mele (song), ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (language), and hula, he blends traditional Hawaiian melodies with contemporary expression that resonates with fans around the world. In 2024 he represented Hawaiʻi on NBC’s The Voice, earning a two‑chair turn and national recognition for his heartfelt performance and dedication to his cultural heritage.
