The Custom Tenor “'Ohi'a” is an extraordinary blend of rare tonewoods, intricate artistry, and Kanileʻa innovation. Its Master Sequoia Redwood soundboard paired with “The Tree” Mahogany back and sides creates a warm, powerful, and harmonically rich voice, elevated further by TRU-Reduction and the TRU-R Bracing System for maximum resonance and clarity.
A D-style soundhole with koa trim and a .065 inch D-style pāua abalone rosette highlight the instrument’s unique character, while the oval side sound port enhances projection and player immersion. Koa details continue across the front and back binding, paua abalone purfling, koa bevel cutaway, and koa armrest, bringing both visual depth and ergonomic comfort.
The Phoenix non-slotted headstock features custom Craig Lavin inlay artwork, also carried onto the ebony fingerboard for the position markers. Additional touches like white mother of pearl side dots, an ebony bridge and headplate, and an orange kirinite logo add to its refined aesthetic.
Finished in a UV high-gloss body with a silky smooth neck, this custom tenor includes vintage chrome tuners with koa buttons, Kanileʻa Worth Low-G strings, and a graphite-infused TUSQ nut and saddle for precise intonation and stable performance. The “ʻOhiʻa” stands as a true showcase of master craftsmanship, rare materials, and artistic collaboration.
