Marcus Malepeai of Three Plus
Marcus Malepeai was a beloved Hawaiian musician, vocalist, and founding member of Three Plus, one of Hawaiʻi’s most energetic and influential reggae-pop bands. Formed in the late 1990s with friends Tanoa Kapana and Karl Zinsman, Three Plus broke through with their debut album Honey Baby, which topped local charts and became a beloved island favorite early in the band’s career.
Marcus grew up on Oʻahu, graduated from Kailua High School, and honed his ʻukulele skills in college before returning home to pursue music and community life as a performer and mentor.
He passed away peacefully with family on August 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of joy, harmony, and aloha that continues to inspire fans and fellow musicians alike. The Three Plus ʻohana and the Hawaiʻi music community honor his contributions and remember him for his warm spirit and unforgettable performances.
