Cody Pueo Pata
Cody Pueo Pata is a renowned Hawaiian musician, composer, chanter, kumu hula (hula teacher), and cultural educator from Maui whose soulful vocals and deep connection to Hawaiian tradition have captivated audiences for decades. He began his training as a teenager under distinguished kumu hula and masters of chant and mele, later becoming an ʻūniki graduate of the Lanakilakeikiahialiʻi lineage and the Kumu Hula of Hālau Hula ʻo Ka Malama Mahilani, teaching and performing on Maui, Oʻahu, and in Japan.
Cody is also a celebrated recording artist whose music has been featured on numerous albums and compilations, and in 2008 he won a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award in the Haku Mele category for his original composition “Miliʻōpua.” His voice and compositions honor traditional Hawaiian melodies while infusing them with heartfelt expression, helping preserve and perpetuate mele in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi.
Beyond performance, Cody shares Hawaiian language, chant, and culture as an educator, author, and advisor, and his recent music continues to reach global listeners with releases like the 2025 single Kūpaʻa Au i ka ʻŌlelo.
