Hōkūpaʻa

At the heart of the 2025 Platinum and Platinum X is a bold emblem of excellence: a sterling silver Kanileʻa logo paired with the brilliance of a diamond-encrusted Hōkūpaʻa — the North Star. In traditional Hawaiian voyaging, the Hōkūpaʻa is the steadfast guiding star, ensuring safe passage and direction. For us, it symbolizes the values that guide our company: Meticulous craftsmanship, Uplifting artistry, Sustainable practices, Innovative design, and strong Character — the core of M.U.S.I.C..

This exquisite star sparkles with 33 hand-set diamonds, totaling 0.112 carat, making history as the first-ever use of diamonds in an ʻukulele. A shimmering testament to our commitment to elevate the art of instrument-making, this unprecedented feature reflects not just luxury, but a deep dedication to precision and beauty. We are incredibly proud to introduce this milestone in the world of ʻukulele — a dazzling blend of tradition and innovation.

ʻIwa Manu

The Platinum X takes the ʻIwa Manu to a new level of luxury, with each inlay meticulously crafted in sterling silver and enhanced by 159 hand-set diamonds, totaling a stunning 0.818 carat. This unique and groundbreaking design is a first in the ukulele world, combining the symbolism of the ʻIwa Manu — the Hawaiian frigatebird representing boundless freedom and ambition — with the brilliance of diamonds. Representing the 10th iteration of the Platinum series, the ʻIwa Manu inlays on the Platinum X speak to both our dedication to artistic excellence and our continued innovation. The diamonds add a level of brilliance that mirrors the journey of the Platinum X: a journey that soars to new heights of craftsmanship and beauty, inviting players to join in the evolution of a legacy.

10 Endemic Woods for 10 Years of Excellence

The 2025 Platinum is a tribute to a decade of excellence, thoughtfully incorporating 10 endemic Hawaiian woods to honor the 10th Platinum model. The body is crafted from Master Grade Koa, revered for its exceptional beauty and tone. The Iwa Manu headstock inlay is made from Lama, the sacred Hawaiian ebony. The rosette is a stunning mosaic of 8 additional endemic woods — Aʻaliʻi, Kou, Alaheʻe, ʻIliahi, Milo, Kamani, ʻŌhiʻa, and Koaiʻe — each representing one of the 8 main Hawaiian islands. Framed by Kailua beach sand, this design symbolizes the sands that connect us as a lāhui, a Hawaiian people united by culture and legacy. This conscious use of these rare, native materials not only celebrates our heritage but reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and community — making this Platinum a true embodiment of our journey and values.

Highlights

ʻIwa Manu Side Port

The ʻIwa Manu side sound port is a testament to both function and artistry. Shaped to echo the form of the soaring ʻiwa bird, this feature enhances the player’s experience by providing a direct channel of sound, allowing you to hear the full clarity and projection of your music. Just as the ʻiwa navigates vast oceanic expanses with grace and precision, this sound port elevates your performance by delivering a balanced, immersive tone. It’s a seamless blend of innovative design and Hawaiian inspiration, offering a listening experience that soars alongside your music.

10 ʻIwa Manu

The ʻIwa Manu inlays found throughout the 2025 Platinum and Platinum X honor the journey, vision, and limitless potential of Kanileʻa’s 10th Platinum edition. Ten ʻiwa birds, representing the 10th anniversary, are thoughtfully inlaid on the headstock, fretboard, soundboard, and side sound port — each one a symbol of soaring to new heights.

On the fretboard and soundboard, the ʻiwa are inlaid in Lama, the sacred Hawaiian ebony, a wood revered for its strength and clarity. The birds on the fretboard are depicted in flight, following the Hōkūpaʻa (North Star), embodying guidance and unwavering direction. This motif reflects a journey guided by values, tradition, and a commitment to excellence.

Together, these inlays are a visual and symbolic expression of freedom, exploration, and the heights that can be reached when heritage and innovation take flight. They invite every player to embark on their own journey — one guided by the same spirit that has shaped Kanileʻa for the past decade and beyond.

TRU-Relief and TRU-Reduction

The Tru-Relief and Tru-Reduction features on the 2025 Platinum and Platinum X represent the pinnacle of Kanileʻa’s commitment to innovation and player-centric design. Tru-Relief delivers a carefully contoured body, ensuring comfort for extended playing sessions by seamlessly accommodating the natural curve of the player’s arm. This subtle yet transformative design invites a more intuitive, immersive playing experience.

Complementing this, the Tru-Reduction soundboard etching technique enhances projection and sustain by selectively reducing material in key areas of the top. This meticulous process allows the wood to resonate more freely, maximizing tonal output without compromising structural integrity. The result is a beautifully balanced instrument with unmatched clarity and responsiveness.

These cutting-edge advancements not only elevate the sound and feel of the instrument but also embody our unwavering pursuit of excellence, giving players a ukulele that feels as extraordinary as it sounds.
