3 Honu Inlaid in Pāua Abalone

The Kanileʻa Honu ʻUkulele features three intricately designed Honu inlays on the soundboard, crafted from stunning Pāua Abalone. Each Honu represents not only the beauty of Hawaiian marine life but also symbolizes wisdom, protection, and longevity in Hawaiian culture. The vibrant colors of the Pāua Abalone shimmer in the light, creating a striking visual focal point that enhances the ukulele’s overall elegance. These exquisite inlays celebrate the harmony between nature and craftsmanship, making each Honu ʻUkulele a unique piece of art that resonates with the spirit of Hawaii. When this model was originally introduced, Kanileʻa founders Joe and Kristen Souza had three young sons, which is why there are three Honu inlays on the body. This design element has remained unchanged, even though all three sons are now a significant part of the company.

Tortoise Front Binding

The Honu Series is elegantly framed with tortoise front binding, which serves both aesthetic and practical purposes. This striking binding enhances the ukulele's visual appeal, creating a beautiful contrast against the rich Hawaiian Koa body and drawing the eye to its curves. Beyond its decorative function, the tortoise binding also protects the raw wood edges from wear and tear, ensuring the longevity of the instrument. This thoughtful combination of beauty and durability exemplifies Kanileʻa's commitment to craftsmanship, making each Honu ʻUkulele not only a work of art but also a reliable companion for musicians.

Pāua Abalone Logo and Position Markers

The Kanileʻa Honu ʻUkulele features exquisite Pāua Abalone position markers and logo inlays, adding elegance and distinction to its design. Sourced from our Polynesian cousins in Aotearoa (New Zealand), the vibrant hues of the Pāua Abalone create a stunning visual contrast against the ebony fingerboard, making navigation effortless for players. These intricate inlays not only elevate the ukulele’s aesthetic appeal but also symbolize the deep cultural connections within the Pacific. Each Honu model reflects Kanileʻa's commitment to craftsmanship, ensuring that beauty and functionality harmoniously coexist in every note you play.
