Welcome to Kanile`a Konnection, the official blog of Kanile`a `Ukulele!

As our first post, we’d like to share with you why we do what we do.

Our mission is to create Hawaiian masterpieces to enjoy for generations. Starting as a concept in the minds and hearts of husband-wife team Joe and Kristen Souza, Kanile`a `Ukulele has grown into an `ukulele manufacturing company known worldwide for building the most stunning instruments based on sound, sustain, feel and aesthetic beauty. When we build `ukulele, we know we are creating something that will be passed from parent (or grandparent) to child, each player leaving his or her own mana (power/life essence) in the `ukulele. In Hawai`i, it is not uncommon for families to gather, pull out instruments that are decades old and play. As they play and sing, they feel the love of those who have passed on close by – with every strum, every word. This is a Hawaiian tradition we wish everyone around the world to be able to experience. And it begins with an exceptional instrument.
