Most ‘ukulele purists would say that the best sounding ‘ukulele would have no finish at all. This would allow for the best resonance and projection from your instrument. Although this may be true, the fact is that it is not practical. Any musical instrument when played is always subjected to some form of moisture either through body perspiration, relative humidity in the air or an accidentally spilt beverage. Which ever the case, an instrument needs some form of protection… Kanile‘a’s satin finish provides just that. We utilize a traditional application of a Wiping varnish that provides a strong, thin surface finish with a pleasing satin texture. This thin satin finish allows for vibration and elasticity of our well seasoned tone woods, resulting in a ‘ukulele that has greater projection, volume, sustain and resonance, yet provides the protection that is needed to allow our ‘ukulele’s to be Kanile‘a.
