Once the glue has properly dried, the piece is then sanded down to its initial thickness of 0.070ths to 0.085ths of an inch. The final thickness will be determined by the final instrument's size and number of strings.

The thickness sander progressively sands the wood with different sanding grits, with a finish sanding using 150-grit sandpaper. Our thickness sander has an accuracy of +/- 0.003ths of an inch. That's the thickness of a piece of paper!
