Musician, Songwriter

Simon Clothier is a rare breed, a singer/songwriter from London who plays ukulele. His roots go back to conventional AOR when with renowned guitarists John McCurry (Cyndi Lauper/Julian Lennon) & Eddie Martinez (Robert Palmer/Tina Turner) he delivered album 'Invalid if Detached' in NYC's once mighty Power Station.

After a lengthy sabbatical, rejuvenation by way of a ukulele led to an invitation to become the first European to appear at Starbucks Ukulele Festival of Hawaii, coupled with an appearance on KSSK FMs prime time Perry & Price show. Single release Lost in Your Life / God Only Knows is available through all major download portals worldwide and work on a debut solo album, scheduled for a spring 2008 release begins in January 2008.

Aloha Joe & Kristen,

Just a few lines to express my complete delight at receiving my Custom T tenor ukulele. It is simply quite stunning, surpassing my wildest expectations both in terms of sound and finish. I am falling more in love with it with each passing day. The quality of craftsmanship is of the highest order. It has the most gorgeous warm tone in its traditional GCEA tuning and an invigorating brightness when I slip it into the European ADF#B configuration. It is certainly a real head turner and I was showered with compliments about it when I played it live for the first time recently. I remember vividly the guided tour you gave me of your factory, the in depth explanations of how your manufacturing processes turns Koa wood into these beautiful instruments. My music is all about feeling and emotion; I find it therefore very poignant that all of the care, passion and enthusiasm with which you demonstrated the Kanile’a product to me, comes together and is crystallised in the sound as I strum.

Going forward I begin work on my album on January 9th 2008 and hope to have it completed by the end of February. It’s a kind of eclectic acoustic based collection of my own songs and without doubt, my Kanile’a uke will feature prominently. Once again, thank you for building me such a beautiful, personalised instrument which I assure you is my absolute privilege and pleasure to play.
